ANTARCTIC ARCHIPELAGO Once part of a large Equatorial land mass that broke off on its own
about 180 million years ago – and today the most peaceful place on Earth – the magnificent great white continent of Antarctica astounds with glacial landscapes and Arctic wildlife that defy description. Tauck’s cruise aboard Le Boreal and L’Austral provides you the rare opportunity to view them up-close with on-board experts who have spent a lifetime studying these natural wonders in extraordinary detail. Due to changing weather and shifting glacial patterns of this remote region, your day-by-day itinerary will vary and may include Zodiac excursions to Antarctic Peninsula islands. During the summer months of January and February you can experience abundant wildlife on the beaches and cliffs of these islands. Penguins abound – young or old, they have little or no fear of humans and will often spend as much time observing you as you will them. Seals, whales and myriad species of seabirds are often seen on land and at sea; our on-board naturalists can help you identify them during your cruise.
The main attractions of this area, however, are dramatic icebergs and unique ice formations – deep blue, light blue, green, clear, snow white – in various shapes and sizes. The sun never sets completely at this time of year. Evenings are relaxed, with a mix of lectures, informal chats with the expedition team, documentary films – or perhaps quiet time in the library reading. Meals BLD
11 - 12. DRAKE PASSAGE CROSSING Your return trip through the Drake Passage allows you to reflect on the amazing experiences you had. On-board activities include a series of lectures, and be sure to take full advantage of the many relaxing amenities of your luxury yacht. Meals BLD
13. FLY TO BUENOS AIRES / JOURNEY HOME Disembark ship and fly from Ushuaia Airport to Buenos Aires. A transfer is included to Buenos Aires’ (Ezeiza) Ministro Pistarini International Airport for your flight home. You should allow three hours for your flight check-in. Meals B
