What Did We Do There? We visited the city of roundabouts to find out how the Nintendo 3DS compares to the original DS.
CONCLUSION Gamestation’s excellent level of customer service put them above their rivals this week, with in-depth product knowledge that suggests that they’ve actually done their own research, rather than repeating what they’ve been told to say.

I haven’t heard great things about the John Lewis gaming department, but decided to give them a chance. Mistake. After walking about a mile through the store, I finally found the tiny games section in the middle of the audio department. However, they did have a variety of consoles to try out. I managed to catch the eye of an assistant and asked if there was someone I could speak to about the 3DS. She all but rolled her eyes at me before walking over to the display. I enquired about the differences between the 3DS and previous DSs, and whether it was worth the extra money. I was told that the only difference is the 3D screen, and probably not really. Great, thanks for that.

The HMV games department was well laid-out and spacious. However, there were no employees on the shop floor at all.
GAMESTATION
Walking into Gamestation, I immediately noticed the large 3DS display with a
SCORE: 10/10
long term price deal to rival HMV’s temporary offer. I was approached almost straight away by a helpful and knowledgeable employee. He talked me through the sliding 3D scale, the camera, the fact that all 2D games can be played on the console, the internet connection and quoted the health warning. He then let me test out Street Fighter. He recommended LEGO Star Wars III to me and said although he didn’t get on with Pilotwings, some of his friends enjoyed it, which implied to me that he actually done his own research, rather than simply regurgitating the training script. Excellent all round.
