Walilko said she sees herself making jewelry and maille clothing for the rest of her life and isn’t sure if she would ever go back to beading professionally, but does get satisfaction knowing that others are learning skills through the how-to kits she sells online. She said she will continue to make “epic beaded work” for her own enjoyment, and is currently working on a bead embroidered dress she hopes to finish in time for the Bead Dreams competition in 2012.

“I see myself staying with chainmaille for a while, but I always try to stay open to whatever ideas float my way,” said Walilko. “Who ever knows what the future holds?” In addition to selling her pieces on Etsy.com and in shops throughout the Midwest, Walilko shares her talents through the chainmaille classes she teaches in the greater Chicago area.

“My hope is that every person gets to the place where they can abandon their fears and pursue what they love. Life is too short to do anything else.”
