watch Knights battle it out with swords or Fairies wandering around with glittery wings. For our particular upcoming Festival, you can expect to eat fantastic food from the likes of Nourish Lexington
www.nourishlexington.com who will have chicken, ribs and some vegetarian choices as well. There are always lots of snacks available (we’re having delicious brownies from Cucina Dolce) and, never fear, Kettle Corn.
Bringing the Renaissance Festival BACK to Hammond Castle is an important part of keeping its history alive. To do it right, Phinn-Volt Enterprises were contacted to create a truly sparkling Renaissance experience. Phinn-Volt Enterprises consists of my husband, Richard and myself, along with a remarkable crew of about 30 people. We’ve been busy at work getting ready to put on a fantastic show named Abbadia Mare Renaissance Festival, after John Hays Hammond Jr. christening of his home as Abbadia Mare or “Abbey by the Sea” - the castle was designed after historic abbeys from Medieval Europe and it does indeed sit by the sea in Gloucester, MA.
The Abbadia Mare Festival is a fundraiser for the Hammond Castle Museum lasting two days, July 23rd and 24th of 2011. We welcome you to please come and support our festival. Perhaps you can be a part of our Human Chess Match, or cheer the knights as they do live steel combat.
In Ren Faire tradition. we have several wonderful performers, some musical, such as Misfits of Avalon
www.misfitsofavalon.com, Diabolis in Musica
www.diabolisinmusica.com/index.html and some re-enactors like a knight troupe that does hand to hand combat -The Neville Companye
www.rainasmind.com/neville/index.shtml.
There are always a large number of arts and crafts vendors as traditional jewelry, garb, furniture and metalwork is a big part of why people attend these “living history” events. Some of the Abbadia Mare artisans include: Ironwood Artisans
www.ironwoodartisans.com, Parrish Relics
www.parrishrelics.com, Wulfemoon Studios
