ging the Renaissance Festival back to Hammond Castle

by Gia Volterra de Saulnier

If you have never been to a Renaissance Festival before, here’s an inside look from someone who has been to several in Massachusetts and the New England area. Gia is also very actively involved in getting some new Festivals off the ground so Artizen thought her unique insight would be an excellent introduction to an outing that combines travel and theater with artisan food and vendors.

Y

ou don’t have to imagine an amazingly beautiful castle against an ocean view; you can actually go visit a real one in Gloucester,

Massachusetts called Hammond Castle (www.hammondcastle.org). Hammond Castle was created by John Hays Hammond Jr. who, according to the website, built this incredible medieval style beauty “in between the years 1926 and 1929 to serve both as his home and as a backdrop for his collection of Roman, medieval, and

Renaissance artifacts.” Music courtesy of Diabolis In Musica 15 www.artizenmagazine.com
