A: I see you’ve started some artwork in collaboration with your husband. Let’s hear about those...

K: “As busy our lives can be, my husband and I are now collaborating on a new series of art pieces. I sketch the faces and do all of the painting. Ric cuts out my face sketches and they might end up with 5-6 layers of masonite to create them. These are truly whimsical pieces and so colorful! They are 26”- 29” tall so very good size pieces. Each face will be different but the bodies will stay the same. When people see our work with that body style they will recognize that ‘Ric & Keri made these!’ Thus the name ‘KeRicTures.’

When I asked Keri how she thought working with her hands had so helped to renew her spirit, she had these words about the whole thing:

“Creating has been my saving grace. This ‘veggie’ started her own business from home so it gave me some dignity back. I was widowed back in 1987, so for 15 years I had raised my kids being a Senior Designer and SUPER MOM. But then I was reduced to an incoherent mess who could not take her own meds. I still cannot count. I have set my microwave on fire, walk into walls, fall over in the garden when I bend down. If you can’t find the toaster-look in the frig! I write notes but can never find them! So I just laugh & shake my head.”
