over 9 years. Piklines are IV’s threaded to my heart so I can get antibiotics daily for up to 4 months each. In the beginning, I was crawling and could not focus. I was told that artwork would be ‘Impossible’ for me to do. Since I have sold over 1400 dolls, I can confidently say they were wrong! I truly believe everything happens for a reason and I have met GREAT people & I learned great lessons on my journey. You play the cards you are dealt and you do have choices. I choose to live my life like to the best I can do. I am blessed with a beautiful family & friends. Bed is not an option. Should I be ‘sick’ I make even more art!”
A: I personally really enjoyed your mixture of polymer clay with found objects. How did that get started?
K: “I am having a RIOT playing with found object art now. Ken from Landfill Art asked if I would do my polymer work on a hubcap. I WAS HOOKED! His vision was to take 1041 hubcaps that were sitting in scrap piles & turn them into ‘masterpieces.’ I believe I was in the 1st 41 artists he connected with. Ken’s whole project will eventually be a table book & a traveling exhibit but, meanwhile, I am having a BLAST! I thought... how cool is it to take discarded items and use them as my canvases? So that is exactly what I am doing now. Having the Lyme, my brain truly does not work all the time, but I can create art at such a fast pace. As soon as I find a couple of ‘treasures’ from my garage I am off & running!”
