Where would you like to see the company in five years?


Devine: Over the next fives years, we


will strive to improve every aspect of our company by developing great products and broadening our product portfolio. A recent example was our expansion into commercial faucets and flush valves. We have long been a leader in commercial fixtures and believe it is a natural


extension of our offering, and fits with our positioning in the commercial space to provide packaged solutions. We are focused on building a superior project solutions company with exceptional products at a competitive price supported by a reliable business system. We will continue to acquire companies that enhance our offering and add technology or access to new channels. The best outcome for the company would be to return American Standard to the public markets, and set the company on a path to enable the American Standard brand to succeed for another 135 years. IN EARLY 2010, Devine signed a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve at a ceremony in Washington attended by The Honorable Dennis M. McCarthy, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. Devine was inspired to sign the Statement by a plumber he had befriended through GreenPlumbers USA — Nick Marine of Marine Plumbing in Marietta, Ga. — who also serves as president of the Naval Enlisted Reservists Association (NERA). American Standard donated all plumbing fixtures to remodel the NERA national headquarters, in addition to its regular donations of product to Home for Our Troops. Marine commented,


“American Standard has me as a customer for life, because of what Don Devine has done for our troops.” Such networking has also served Devine


well online. He recently “met” John Murphy, a master plumber in New England and president of the new National Association of Plumbing Showroom Professionals through LinkedIn and personally sent him an American Standard faucet with the Speed Connect drain. John later sent an unsolicited testimonial, lauding the product: “This drain really does what America Standard claims and more… this new lavatory drain is a problem solver and it is a pleasure to install.” American Standard maintains an active
