Sky's the limit for preformed gaskets

WL Gore has expanded its family of Gore Skyflex aerospacematerials to include preformed gaskets formulti- face aircraft applications such as hole liners, flange joints, fastener seals, and galley or restroomhard-mounts. These lightweight, non-hazardous gaskets ensure continuous protection between flat interfaces, around chamfers and inside a component’smounting hole by isolating dissimilarmaterials to reduce the likelihood of galvanic corrosion.

Materials in the range do not require any curing time, which reduces downtime and

facilitates replacement during componentmaintenance. Available in diameters from three to 150mm, the gaskets are formed to customer’s dimensions and are installed without special equipment. Utilising expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), the gaskets are also designed to last without hardening or becoming brittle.

Aerospace application engineer at Gore,MarkMcKinnie, explained: “Customers had

been isolatingmetals using Skyflexmaterial in a flat formfor some time, however, the increasing use of composites inmore complex stacksmeant they needed to isolate materials in amulti-dimensional way with no joints. Our expertise enables us tomeet these challenges withminimalmodifications to ourmaterial.”

Over 400 hot newideas

More than 400 new cooling and heating devices have been introduced by RS Components, from manufacturers including EBM-Papst, Pfannenberg and Bergquist. The expanded range is brought together under a dedicated thermalmanagement microsite at rswww.com/fanss enabling customers to quickly find and buy the correct devices.

Highlights of the range include the IQ energy

efficient fanmotor assembly fromEBM-Papst, said to be 70 per centmore efficient than previous devices. Other new products include the Blizzard PTC heater elements fromDBK, designed to provide dynamic natural convection heating optimised for low inrush current.
