Fast response backlight ensures legibility
Sharp has extended its industrial display portfolio for outdoor and semi- outdoor usewith two high-brightnessmodels boasting 48cmand 59cm diagonal screens, LED backlighting and a service life of up to 50,000 hours.
One new addition is the 48cmLQ190E1LX51 SXGA display that
provides a brightness of up to 1,000cd/m² with a contrast ratio of 900:1 and a viewing angle of 170deg. In addition to industrial applications, it is perfect for e-kiosks, which are often used outdoors.
New as well is the LQ231U1LW31 59cmUXGA display with a
brightness of up to 500cd/m², a contrast ratio of 600:1 and a viewing angle of 170deg. It is already used in nautical applications where dimming is an essential feature. In the daytime, optimal readability must be ensured in direct sunlight, while at night, the backlightmust be dimmed to ensure that the display does not dazzle or cause reflections in the front pane of the display.
Both displays work in a temperature range of -20 to 60°C, with a
lifespan of up to 50,000 hours and long-termavailability.

Driving touch technology forward
Collaboration between Zytronic andMentor Distribution is set to provide a newgeneration of large formfactor and robust user interfaces. Supplier of large format touchscreen/display assemblies,Mentor,will use Zytronic's projected capacitive technology (PCT) touch sensors and controllers to create display modules targeted at the public information and hospitality sectors.
Mentor expects to benefit fromthe PCT-based sensors’
resilience to harsh environmental conditions and their ability to offer accurate and responsive drift-free operation without costly maintenance or recalibration.
