Bilbao Ferroforma


Toolbusiness & Hire Magazine recently visited the “Ferroforma Exhibition” which took place at Bilbao Exhibition Centre on March 2326. A total of 567 exhibitors from 29 countries were featured at the newly designed international hardware and DIY fair, focusing more closely on the needs of the sector. A policy of reasonable prices and new forms of financing were the main features of the campaign to attract exhibitors, while as regards visitors the runup to the event has been marked by the inclusion of end users, programmes for international purchasers and promotional packages.


The side events scheduled for FerroformaBricoforma featured various different formats, including presentations, round tables, case studies, demonstrations,


competitions and talks to reinforce the dynamic, participative nature of the event.


Leading firms from the hardware, DIY and industrial supply sectors responded to the efforts of the organisers to reshape the event and were present at the highquality edition of


FerroformaBricoforma in which foreign firms made up 51% of the participants. Products and services from


Germany, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, the USA, Finland, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Portugal, the UK, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Sweden and Taiwan among other markets were proof of the high international profile of the event and its value as a platform for helping companies to internationalise.


49% of the products on show were from Spain, 30% from the rest of Europe, 5% from the Americas and 16% from Asia and the rest of the world.


The main sectors in terms of percentages of participants were hand tools and power tools (28%), protective gear and industrial supplies (23%), locksmithery and fittings (14%), hardware and home products (13%), fixings and construction supplies (10%), decoration, lighting, equipment and gardening (10%) and services (3%).


Hall 1 of the exhibition complex was home to industrial supplies, power tool and service firms, while Hall 2 housed hardware and home products, fittings, electrical and lighting, decoration, woodworking, commercial equipment, gardening
