You Can Present with Confidence
If someone is just starting out speaking then there is a treasure trove contained for the finding in this book by Paul du Toit.
A particularly useful aspect of this book is that the reader has the luxury of covering all the material from end to end, as well being able to pick and choose different components as needed. The chapters are well laid out and the different items are easy to find.
The first chapter handles an area that is more important than any other when it comes to speaking : “Believing you can”. Many would-be speakers get no further than the desire to speak.
The second chapter handles fear. Public speaking is one of the most feared things that an individual can do and so this is an excellent starting point and is very well handled. It gives you some great pointers in this area that would undoubtedly be useful and very easy to implement.
From here Paul covers all the areas that you would expect in a book on speaking. Starting with a clear objective he works his way from preparation right through to what to do after the delivery of the speech. Included in this are great ideas and “how to” items on the power of your voice and the visual impact you need to have.
An unusual chapter is called “The Missing Ingredient” which covers the common reasons
why speakers fail. The ideas in here would save many would-be speakers many embarrassing moments!
