2010 was a wonderful year for the Office Professional in South Africa, and 2011 has so many things in store, it promises to be even better.

Firstly the IAAP (International Association for Administrative Professionals) Johannesburg Chapter at Large has come up with some exciting ideas for office professionals to get to know one another.

Along with the regular educational networking events, the IAAP Johannesburg Chapter and the Institute for Certified Administrative Professionals (ICAP) will be hosting exciting functions to raise funds to assist existing and potential office professionals to reach their potential includes,

We would welcome you to join us and any ideas that you have where we could make a difference to those who are interested in our profession, would be welcome.

Our first event for IAAP 2011 was at the ICAP Indaba and Expo, which was held on the 8-9 March 2011 at Gold Reef City Casino, Johannesburg. The ICAP Indaba has been running for 4 years, and this year the ICAP Indaba was run alongside an Office Exhibition hosted by NichePro (a first of its kind in Johannesburg). With hot topics and speakers to assist the delegates in ways of

“Surviving the Office of 2011” and to keep them up to date with current events, the ICAP Indaba presents the opportunity to learn and to network with those in the same industry. Keeping up with the times, ICAP launched ICAP Online! at the ICAP Indaba.

In amongst all the stalls, the IAAP Johannesburg Chapter was hosted by the IAAP Johannesburg Chapter Committee and members. The President of the IAAP Johannesburg Chapter; Esme van der Merwe CPS/CAP, took part in the questions and answers session during the Indaba and Rosely van der Merwe (President Elect), Lee Chapman (Vice President), Dawn Williams (Treasurer), Kelly Williams (Secretary) and Jeannette Clack (Secretary) were present for questions about the IAAP Johannesburg Chapter.

Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled ‘Gentlemen Only.... Ladies Forbidden’ thus, the word GOLF entered Into the English language.

Although Golf has been a way for the bosses to network, it is fast becoming a sport enjoyed by the office professional. The IAAP Johannesburg Chapter has decided that this year the Office Professionals should have a networking day on the Golf Course! The IAAP Johannesburg Chapter at Large will be hosting their first Golf Day on 27 March 2011 – for more information on how to get involved,
