EFFORTLESS AIR TRAVEL Duma Travel shares some tips on making your travel a smooth ride
• Keep abreast of departure times to avoid needless waiting at the airport. Make sure your flight is leaving on time before going to the airport.
• Avoid parking at the airport whenever possible. Have someone drop you off instead. You cannot beat the convenience of the door-to-door service and you may gain more than 30 minutes in time taken to park and get to the terminal.
• Get there early. It is the unexpected variables that cause you to miss your flight.
Control the ones you can. Airlines recommend arriving sixty minutes early for domestic flights and two hours for international flights.
• Your seat location can determine whether your flight will be pleasant or nightmarish. Know where the best seats are and get seat assignments well in advance. Also, request seat upgrades early and often.
• Come prepared for security checkpoints. Have your I.D. and boarding pass readily available. Shorten your trip through the metal detector by wearing items that will not set it off.
•
Do not check luggage in unless absolutely necessary. The time spent checking in, claiming it, and lugging it around can add as much as two hours to a trip.
• Avoid peak travel times to get the maximum elbow and leg space and the lowest prices. Peak business travel times are in the morning and early evening, especially Monday mornings and Friday evenings.
• • Don’t just sit around when a flight is seriously delayed or cancelled. Pick up the
phone and get yourself onto a new flight. Consider buying an airline club membership to make waiting at the airport more
comfortable. These are usually issued free to frequent flyers on specific airlines once they have earned a specified number of points.
• Get a pocket flight guide. Take it on every trip and use it often. The guide lists all arrival and departure times to all the airline’s destinations, as well as the type of aircraft being used for each flight and the aircraft seating layouts.
• Keep a supply of snacks
on hand to get you through unexpected delays.
