local restaurants that provide opportunities to meet old friends, make new ones, and share information about their cases.

List Serve The highly successful List Serve is

another method for members to connect with each other. More than 900 members subscribe to the List Serve, making it the largest of its kind in the country. The List Serve allows attorneys to ask questions about trial strategy and tactics and get instant responses from their List Mates. It creates a virtual law firm for solo practitioners that puts them on an equal footing with larger defense firms.

While CAALA VEGAS is a tremen-

dous source of education and information for attorneys, we have learned that the real appeal is the ability to connect with and meet fellow consumer attorneys. CAALA VEGAS is the nation’s largest and most successful gathering of consumer attorneys, and its reputation has spread across the nation. If you are a trial lawyer who is inter-

ested in connecting with other plaintiffs’ attorneys, joining Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles is a no-brainer. To join, visit our Web site or call the CAALA office at (213) 487-1212. As our association continues to grow and evolve, we have not lost sight of our

founding purpose which was to connect our members and provide them with the resources they needed to become better lawyers. As Charles Darwin and Jean-Baptiste

Karr would no doubt observe, today’s CAALA has clearly descended from a common ancestor, and the more things change for our association, the more things remain the same. If you have questions about this

column, feel free to contact me at the CAALA office or by e-mail at stuart@caala.org.
