Elks Drug Awareness Program


u GREEN VALLEY, AZ, Lodge members honored the winners of their Drug Awareness Poster and Essay Contests in ceremonies at the winners’ schools. The lodge received more than 300 entries for its poster contest from third- and fifth-grade students at the Sahuarita Intermediate School and first- through fifth-grade students at the Continental School and more than 220 essays from sixth- through eighth-grade students at Sahuarita Middle School. Lodge members awarded a medal to the top poster designer in each class section and a medal and a drug awareness basketball to the top poster designer at each grade level. Lodge members also awarded a silver medal to the second-place essayist in each class section and a gold medal and a drug awareness basketball to the first-place essayist in each class section. Temecula Valley, CA, Lodge members honored the winners of their Drug Awareness Essay and Poster Contests in a ceremony at the lodge and treated the winners, their parents, and their teachers to dinner. Lodge members awarded gift cards valued at $25, $20, $15, and $10, respectively, to each of the top four boys and girls who entered the poster contest, which was open to students in the third through fifth grades. The first-place winners of the

poster contest were Elijah Fang and Emma Nagel.


Lodge members awarded $100, $75, and $50, respectively, to the top three boys and girls who entered the essay contest, which was open to students in the sixth through eighth grade. Lodge members also presented each winner with a certificate and a drug aware- ness soccer ball. The first-place winners of the essay contest were Austin Lee and Aimee Sanchez.


Holiday Isles, FL, Lodge members honored the three winners of their Drug Awareness Poster Contest in ceremonies at the winners’ schools and awarded each of the winners a plaque and a gift card. Lodge members received 25 posters from fifth-grade students at Madeira Beach Funda- mental School and Orange Grove Elementary School and chose Karissa Corns, Antonio Rivera, and Justin Grava as their winners.
