Gary Pace (BS63) is retiring from teaching biology at the University of Michigan-Flint after 41 years. He is the longest-serving employee at the Flint campus.


Doris Beebe (BS64) is the recipient of Flushing High School’s Distinguished Alumni Award, presented at the 114th alumni reunion.


Suzanne Courtney (BS66) has had her first book, “Ride to the Stars,” published by Eloquent Books.

James DelVero (BS70) has retired after 40 years as an adaptive physical education teacher as well as a Special Olympics coach and coordinator for the Detroit Public School District.


Marvin Dick (BS70, MA74) is retiring as the superintendent of Ida Public Schools after 41 years.


Charlene Jacobsen (BAE70) had her artwork featured by the Two Twelve Arts Center of Saline in its “Artists of the Month” show for July, dedicated as “Intention and Intuition: Two Sisters, Two Perspectives.”


Betty Pope (MA70) is retiring from Charles England Intermediate School in Lexington, N.C., after 43 years.


Steve Zimmer (BBA70, MBA74) is the new executive director of the United States Council for Automotive Research.


Kay Stroop (BS71) has retired after 35 years in the West Ottawa Public School District of Holland.


Donald Blum (BBA71) has received Professional Resume Writer certification from the Professional Association of Resume Writers & Career Coaches.


Randy Wilkins (BS71) is retiring after 40 years as a teacher, mentor, and track and cross-country coach at Lakeland High School in the Huron Valley School District.

Rhonella Brelinski (BS72, MA76) has retired after 34 years of service as a teacher and library media specialist in the Columbia School District of Brooklyn.


Victoria A. Radke (BA72) is the chair of the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly for 2010- 2011.


Jan Werenka (BA72) is the assistant principal of Sequoyah Elementary School in the Macomb Intermediate School District.


Werner Schienke (BA73, MS76, MA87) has retired after 36 years of teaching biology and environmental science in the Fraser and Grosse Pointe School Districts. He plans to continue coaching track and serve as chair for the “Prime Timers,” the alumni association for Grosse Pointe’s education retirees.


Carol Mull (BA74, MS98) has had her book “The Underground Railroad in Michigan” published by McFarland & Company, Inc.


Paula Sheldon (BME74) has had her book “Career Strategies for Success” published by Xlibris Corporation.


Susan Studer (BA74, MS80) has been acknowledged as a distinguished graduate of Belleville High School. She also has co- authored her latest book, titled “Leveraging Chaos: The Mysteries of Leadership and Policy Revealed,” published by Rowman & Littlefield Education.


Deborah Dubois (BS76) is an outreach librarian for all ages at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library, where she has held a position for 19 years.


Elizabeth Hill (MA76) is the new pastor for the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone.


Rebecka Vigus (BS76) has retired after almost 30 years of service in the West Branch-Rose City School District.
