Presented by: Measuring Quality Metrics will be developed to measure quality on several fronts.

The old days of the healthcare system stating that quality couldn’t be measured because of arguments about the metric have gone by the wayside. Diane Pinakiewicz, National Patient Safety Foundation

Disagreements have stymied efforts to establish metrics for measuring quality in the healthcare industry, but the Act will finally make it a reality. Provider systems will be measured on the degree to which they practice evidence-based medicine and clinical outcomes. There will be process measures and metrics that consider the patient experience. Quality measures will also ensure that providers are not paid for “never events” – a list of devastating and preventable errors that should never occur.
