Presented by: Where Health Reform Stands

Even before passage of the Act in March 2010, the momentum for change in the healthcare industry was building.

We’re at the beginning of what we hope will be a significant change for the healthcare system, which is long overdue.

Diane Pinakiewicz, National Patient Safety Foundation

The Act builds on work already taking place in the healthcare industry. Over the past several years, industry innovators have identified the process improvements necessary to help ensure safe and high-quality care. The Act provides a crucial push to start reshaping the system to be more responsive, more cost effective and more focused on safety. It presses forward efforts to provide incentives for producing quality outcomes rather than for generating services.
