Checklist Central Cakes

Use the CheckList below as a starting point in ordering and pre- paring for your wedding cake. Print it out as a handy reference.

Find out if your cake is included as part of your reception

package – if so, do you get to do a cake tasting? Be sure to ask your reception location if they charge a cake

cutting fee. Most will charge $2 to $3 per guest for outside cakes. Research local bakeries. Look for reputable businesses that

comes recommended with the appropriate health certificates. Choose 1 or 2 bakeries to test. Look at cake galleries of local bakers and on the web to find a

style and design that you like. Decide if you want a topper. Arrange for a cake tasting to choose your flavors and discuss

design. Decide whether you want a groom’s cake also and review

designs for that as well. Attend your cake tasting and finalize your flavors and design. - Before your tasting, be sure you have a solid estimate on your guest count. - Be prepared to leave a deposit to book your date if you are working with a sought after and busy baker. - Ask if you can have different flavors for the different tiers.

Once you have selected your cake, think about your cake

table design and any details you may want for it (e.g. linens, candles, flowers, etc.). Ask your reception location if there will be a garnish added to

your cake when it is served. Decide whether or not you want to purchase a special cake

serving set. Someone may give you this as a gift (register for one!). If you do not have one, ask your reception location or wedding planner if they have a nice one for you to use for the ceremony.
