There’s an App for

that!

In “There’s an App for that,” we review iPhone and iPad Apps that can help with your wedding planning. OR that are just fun!

In this issue, we looked for apps to help you choose your wedding cake. There really aren’t too many options for this topic so your best bet would be web galleries or photos from your local bakery. Here are a few Apps we did find. And cake vendors – here’s a good opportunity for you! Build a good cake app and let us know about it!

500 Wedding Cake Photos – it is what it says it is – and not much more. The functionality on this App is pretty limited. It offers a slideshow of cake photos but doesn’t allow for bookmarking one you might like. It also doesn’t have a thumbnail option so you have to wait and just flip through all 500 to see them all. You can start from a particular number so if you do find one you like, note the number and start from that one. It does tell you who created the cake so you can track down the baker for one you like. Cost: $4.99 Recommendation: wait on this one until they add some functionality

Wedding Envi – this wedding planning app does filter in cake photo galleries and we found some great photos to inspire you. It offers a thumbnail option so you can view galleries quickly and zoom in on one you may like. Cost: $1.99

Recommendation: better than the app above but web galleries are better for cake photos

Did we miss a good cake App? Share it on

Wedding Ideas – you may find some cakes with this app as it shows feed from a number of great wedding blogs such as What Junebug Loves! and 100 Layer Cake (which isn’t really about cakes :- ). We do love this app in general for its simplicity in bringing the best of the blogs to your iPhone or iPad via RSS feed. You can even add your favorite blogs easily – like WED The Magazine – by clicking Add/Search.

Cost: $ .99 Recommendation: for less than a buck, you can’t go wrong!
