Happy New Year to all our readers, and here’s hoping that 2011 will continue the storage buzz of 2010 - with a great amount of activity and some great new


technologies and ideas out there that require investigation and then, hopefully, implementation. Consolidation is the watch word of the moment - consolida- tion of servers and storage and networks and, it seems, the industry itself. Whatever the consolidation, the end result requires much smarter manage- ment techniques - complexity is being added to the organisation, and if this is not kept under control then disaster awaits. So, if you keep to just one New Year resolution, make sure it’s the one that requires you to work out what you want to achieve, how you will achieve it, and, most importantly, how you will manage the end result.
