who is the “authority” on all things Vampire. Peter Vincent, played by David Tennant, is clearly a parody of Criss Angel, the “Mind Freak” douche bag, and at first, is equally as hateable. Through a string of intense scenes, they eventually come together to try to take Jerry out and gain their lives back. This is a great date movie, as Colin Farrell mixes sexy with scary. There weren’t any boobs or sexy chick-vampires, which was disappointing for ME, but I’ll live. I guess the R rating was for violence and gore, which there was plenty of. Go see Fright Night
Most of the rules about Vampires held true in the movie also, giving the director a fun reason to shoot some scenes where Jerry has no reflection. Anton Yelchin, who I loved in Terminator Salvation and Star Trek, was perfect for this role as a popular high school student. As kids at his school start to go missing, he slowly comes to the realization that his smooth talking next door neighbor might in fact be a beast of the night. With his mother and girlfriend at risk of being seduced by this 400 year old creature, he must protect his household the only way he knows how: by consulting Las Vegas’ top magic performer,
this October, and whatever you do, don’t invite anybody named “Jerry” into your house.
