Let’s face it: the image of Vampires took a massive blow since Twilight took all the horror out of the genre. Nobody wants to see your shiny nipples, Edward Cullin. And if you ARE a Twilight fan, well then you better hang on tight, spider monkey, because Jerry won’t romance you. He’ll seduce you, sure, then BITE THE SHIT OUT OF YOU! Played by Colin Farrell, Jerry the vampire (I know, they kept using that name as a joke throughout the entire movie) is smooth, sexy, and ends up being creepy and horrifying. From the trailers and the ‘presence of Christopher Mintz-Plasse, I assumed this would be more of a tongue and cheek horror-comedy. About 20 minutes in, I realized that Jerry is no laughing matter. Previous movie-going experiences had me skeptical about the majority of this movie being shot during the night-time. Movies like Underworld that were shot in low light/low contrast

made it hard to see detail, and the ever-present blue hue hurt my eyes after awhile. Fright Night had some of the same issues, but it seemed to fit with Colin Farrell’s stoic performance. The effects for the Vampires were great. There were subtle shots of the clichéd sharp teeth, but some scenes showed a spectacular transformation as Jerry became blood-lusted.
