Single Semester Acting Course (Study Abroad Programme)

The Single Semester Acting Course aims to develop the student’s knowledge and understanding of classical texts, namely the work of Shakespeare and either Jacobean or Restoration playwrights. For tutors who might wish to ascertain the suitability of the course for their students, an information pack is available upon request from Admissions. Our website also provides up-to-date information about dates and fees.

Students are trained in the same way and by the same faculty as those on longer courses at LAMDA. They undertake a minimum of 35 hours of practical work a week (Monday-Friday), based on the three central elements of the Academy’s training: acting, movement and voice. Work is conducted in small groups and all classes are compulsory.

During the course, there are opportunities to attend a variety of West End productions, including performances at Shakespeare’s Globe, where many of our faculty and alumni have worked. There is also a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon to see the work of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Students are encouraged to take part in Academy events.

Dramatic work covered is as follows:

Autumn Semester – Shakespeare and Jacobean Spring Semester – Shakespeare and Restoration
