One Year Classical Acting Course

This course is for students who have undergone some training or worked professionally and wish to supplement their skills by undertaking an intense course of British conservatoire training in the classics. It is based on a contemporary investigation into Shakespeare, but also comprises Jacobean and Restoration drama. Graduates from the course include John Lithgow, Swoosie Kurtz, Stacy Keach and Dana Ivey.

The course is compact and is executed through a rigorous programme of classwork and workshop performances. Students are trained in the same way and by the same faculty as those on longer courses at LAMDA.

There are opportunities to attend West End productions and experience the variety that London theatre has to offer. There is also a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon to see the work of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Students are encouraged to take part in the many social activities that are an integral part of being a LAMDA student.

The practical classwork includes: Acting and Improvisation Movement

Voice Singing Historical Dance Textual Interpretation and Analysis

Students eligible to work in the USA and Canada are able to join final year students from other courses in a showcase for agents and casting directors in New York and Los Angeles on completion of the course.
