Yorkshire Building
Society Make a Clean
Investment
In Depth has successfully secured the office and window cleaning contract with Yorkshire Building Society for 141 of their branches across the UK for the next 18 months. This is a welcomed addition to the original contract the In Depth hold with the Building Society, where the team were originally only responsible for cleaning their Head Office building in Bradford.
Due to the impressive cleaning results achieved at the Head Office, Yorkshire Building Society invited In Depth to submit tender to clean 141 of their nationwide branch offices. Earlier this year the tender was accepted and In Depth are now the contracted cleaners for the Yorkshire Building Society’s Head Office and nationwide branch offices. On 5 July 2010 the huge task of cleaning 141 offices simultaneously commenced. All branch offices now receive a daily clean, most of which take place in the evening by a dedicated member of staff.
To facilitate the smooth running of this cleaning operation, the contract is being fulfilled by a workforce of 135 TUPE (the Transfer of Undertaking Protection of Employment regulations) staff, alongside 10 In Depth operatives. TUPE regulations protects employees’ terms and conditions of employment when a business is transferred from one owner to another. Contract Managers worked closely with all cleaners to ensure that the TUPE transfer ran smoothly and all cleaners had completed a training programme before the contract commenced. In Depth take great pride on their cleaning standard and endeavour to share this with all their cleaners, to ensure that the In Depth cleaning standard is upheld. Raising the bar in electrical training for the healthcare sector
One of the very first NHS electrical apprentices to train at Eastwood Park is returning to his roots. The journey for Peter Handforth is turning full circle as he joins Eastwood Park to continue working in an environment which he is passionate about – high quality and inspirational training for electricians in the healthcare environment.
Peter began his career in Blackpool Victoria Hospital as an apprentice electrician and thoroughly enjoyed the unique hospital environment and the diversity of installations and equipment. He attended Eastwood Park when it was a dedicated NHS Engineering Centre and was inspired by the facility and focus on healthcare engineering.
As his career progressed Peter became Peter Handforth
a Senior Design Engineer on many healthcare sector, commercial and industrial projects. However, throughout this time he was combining learning and teaching: “My continual passion for both healthcare engineering and quality teaching has always been important to me particularly following my experience as an Authorising Engineer for several large hospitals.” commented Peter.
Invited to be an Associate Tutor for the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) Peter was involved in writing the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations publications for the NICEIC. Eastwood Park offers a wide range of electrical safety courses which can also be delivered on-site and tailored to individual hospital’s or an organisation’s requirements. The next key training dates are in December when the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations course, the Mechanical to Electrical Conversion courses and the Authorised Engineers Foundation programme will be running. Next year it is planned to run short courses on the MEIGaN Regulations and the proposed changes to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations affecting healthcare installations. More details of the courses on offer are available on the website
