Direct attach copper and fibre cable assemblies

A new range of direct attach copper and fibre cable assemblies has been added to the range of high-speed connectors available from the Enterprise Networks business unit of Tyco Electronics. The new SFP+ copper cable assemblies and PARALIGHT active optical cable assemblies offer a cost effective alternative to standard fibre-optic cables in 10 Gbit/s Ethernet, 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel and InfiniBand applications.

SFP+ copper cable assemblies enable hardware OEMs and data-centre operators to achieve high port density and configurability at a low cost and reduced power requirement. Tyco Electronics SFP+ copper assemblies meet the industry MSA (multi-source agreement) for signal integrity performance.

The Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP)

interconnect system from Tyco Electronics is a four-channel package,

offering three

times the density of traditional SFP ports and supporting speeds up to 10 Gbit/s per channel (suitable for 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel and 10 Gbit/s Ethernet).

The Tyco Electronics PARALIGHT active optical cable assemblies use state-of-the- art technology to provide cost-effective high data throughput interconnects. They are available in lengths of up to 100 m using 50 m fibre. The optoelectronic circuitry is designed for use with 8B/10B encoded data streams, such as InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, and XAUI

PHS Recordsmanagement Achieves Vaulting Ambition

PHS Recordsmanagement installs a new high-tech vault in its London branch to offer extra security for the storage of clients’ valuable and sensitive documents and data.

While all documents stored with PHS Recordsmanagement are in safe hands, the Secure Document and Data Management Company realises that its clients value some records more than others. With this in mind PHS Recordsmanagement has installed a brand new state-of-the-art vault within its facility serving the London area.

Constructed to Ministry of Defence specifications with a minimum of 6” walls and with electronic keypad access by security vetted staff, the vault provides the ultimate peace of mind for any business wanting to store records and documents offsite. The vault boasts fire protection with 4-hour integrity and a direct link to the fire brigade. In the unlikely event that a fire should breach the vault, a FM200 Gaseous Fire Fighting System will ensure that any items stored within will not be

Recordsmanagement’s existing storage facility in Hayes, Middlesex, the new vault will serve as an extra secure area to store critical records such as Human Resource documents, wills, deeds and back-up tapes for customers requiring the highest protection for their files. All items within the vault, whether in electronic or paper format, are maintained by a close control air conditioning system which ensures that humidity and temperature are kept at levels consistent with BS4783 file storage standards.

As with the rest of the Hayes facility, the new vault is monitored 24/7 by an extensive CCTV system. Michael Dalaimo, PHS

Recordsmanagement’s Business Development Manager, recognises the convenience of the new vault, saying, “The vault in our Birmingham facility is already well utilised, even by some of our London-based clients. We would like our clients to be able to store all their documents on one site so that they only have one point of contact whether they are retrieving regular documents or more critical ones. Recordsmanagement’s clients based in the Southeast can retrieve documents stored in our standard secure shelving at the same time as files in our vault, incurring just one delivery fee.”

As a proven expert in the management of confidential documents and commercial records, PHS Recordsmanagement has the current capacity nationally to store and manage 25 million files. Working closely with clients and with the ability to monitor documents and advise on retention legislation, customers can be confident that they will never store items longer than required or at unnecessary cost. www.recordsmanagement.co.uk Email: sales@recordsmanagement.co.uk

These products can eliminate the requirement of costly GBIC (gigabit interface convertor) transceivers and fibre patch cords for short interlinks between network switches, enterprise storage devices and servers.
