Power adapters designed for global use

Converters provide flexible range of I/O voltages

CUI Inc.'s power line, V-Infinity, announced a further expansion to its line-up of high efficiency external power adapters. CUI’s latest release includes 6W, 18W, 30Wand 40Wmulti-blade wall adapters. Allmeet Level V efficiency standards and exceed the current US EISA 2007 efficiency regulations. Offered in a wide range of output voltages, these high efficiency adapters are a continuation of the company’s strategy to offer a full line- up of Level V products.

The flexible EMSAmulti-blade adapter series is designed for

global use and comes standard with customplugs for different countries. The series also includes corresponding safety agency approvals for each region. The competitively priced 18WEMSA series includes plugs for the US, Europe, UK, Australia, and China, and is ideal for customers trying to offer a general purpose wall adapter suitable for use around the world.

Allmulti-blade series adapters operate off a universal input

(90-264 Vac) and include short-circuit and over-voltage protections. With typical efficiencies up to 87%, CUI’s Level V products are ideal where power consumption is a concern.

“With this latest release of level V external power adapters, CUI

nowoffers an expansive array ofwall,multi-blade, and desktop external adapters tomeet the increasing demand for green solutions,” stated Kraig Kawada, CUI’s V-Infinity ProductManager. The EMSA series is available through Digi-Keywith prices starting at $10.695 per unit at 500 pieces. Please contact CUI forOEMpricing.

Ironwood Electronics has introduced a new BGA socket for 0.65mmpitch 176 ball BGA. The socket is designed to verify the function of an IC in a development systemwith a specific temperature by controlling the flow of a thermal stream on the IC top surface.

The SG-BGA-7199 socket is designed for

13.5 by 8.0 by 1.2mmpackage size and operates at bandwidths up to 10GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. Contact resistance is typically 20mOhms per I/O.

28 | Annual Edition 2011 Designed to offer a small footprint, the

socket ismounted on the target PCB with no soldering. Thismeans inductors, resistors and decoupling capacitors can be placed close to the device for impedance tuning. The socket also incorporates a quick insertionmethod so ICs can be changed out quickly. Temperature range is -35 to 100°C.

Campbell Collins Ltd, a supplier of power supplies, capacitors and hi-rel power semiconductors, announces the availability of a new family of 15W DC/DC Converters from PowerMate, offering high power density and a flexible range of input and output voltages.

The FKC15Wseries has 4:1 input ranges of 9-36V or 18-75V,making them

suitable for awide range of applications in both Industrial and Telecom/Datacomapplications.With single outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 15V, and dual outputs of ±5V, ±12V and ±15V, the family offers a broad range of solutions to customers’ needs. Available output current is up to 4A (at 3.3V), and efficiencies are as high as 90%.Operating temperature range is -40degC to +100degC (with full power available up to +67degC ambient).

Housed in a six-sided, nickel coated copper casemeasuring just 1.25” x

0.8” x 0.4” (31.8mmx 20.3mmx 10.2mm), the FKC15Wcomeswith a full suite of protection features including Input Under Voltage Lockout;Output Over Voltage Protection;OutputOver Current Protection and Short Circuit Protection. The units are also able towithstand input voltage transients of 50V for 1s (9-36V nominal) and 100V for 1s (18-75V nominal). Calculated MTBF figures for the devices are 4.1Mhrs according toMIL-HDBK-217F, and they comewith a 2 yearwarranty as standard.

“PowerMate’s extensive product range for Industrial and

Telecom/Datacomapplications has nowbeen complemented by this ultra high power density device” said Phil Goff, Sales&MarketingManager for Campbell Collins. “By offering up to 15Win the same package as previous 3W, 5W, 8Wand 12Wdevices, customers nowhave a easymigration path for those applications needingmore power.”
