What’s New Converter family expands

TDK-Lambda has expanded its line of DC- DC converters, the CN-A Series, with the introduction of the new 200-watt, CN200A models.

Like the othermodels in this series, they

operate off a wide range of DC inputs from 60V to 160VDC, which is widely used in the railway industry. Available with output voltages from5V to 24VDC (adjustable ±10%) with output power ratings of 30W, 50W, 100W, and now 200W, these fully- regulated and isolated powermodules deliver exceptional performance. The 30W to 100Wmodules come in the industry standard quarter-brick footprint and the new 200Wunits are packaged in a half-brick footprint. The new CN200A (200W)models have a unique “current-share” feature, which is ideal for paralleling two ormore units for high power applications.

The CN-A DC-DCmodules are suitable for

both rolling stock and fixed installations, enabling user’s to design cost-effective EN50155 compliant systemswithout the risks associatedwith customproduct designs, and in amuch shorter timescale. TDK-Lambda

Americas also offers customdesign and manufacturing services for its customerswho prefer to buy a complete turn-key systemthat meets their exact electrical andmechanical requirements.

Designed for very harsh environments,

the CN-A Seriesmeets the stringent shock and vibration requirements of IEC61373 Category 1 Class B, as well as the Japanese equivalent standard JIS E 4031. In addition, allmodels accept the wide-range DC input commonly found in railway applications, which allows operation fromany voltage between 60V and 160VDC.

These baseplate-cooled power converters

have standard pin-outs and provide full output power from-40 to +100°C at baseplatewithout deratings. The 200-watt model CN200A110-24, for example, delivers 8.4 Amps at 24VDCwith a conversion efficiency of up to 88%. The quarter-brick modules (up to 100W)measure 1.45 x 2.28 inches and only 0.50 inch high. This translates to a power density of up to 60.5W/in3

. The newhalf-brick 200-watt models are 2.4 x 2.28 x 0.50 inches,which www.us.tdk-lambda.com/lp

provides a power density of up to 73.1W/in3 As standard, the CN-A units are equipped

.

with remote sense, remote on/off, over voltage and over current protection circuitry, and include TDK-Lambda’s five-yearwarranty. All CN-Amodels have an input-to-output isolation of 3000VAC, are safety-approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1 and carry the CEmark in accordancewith the LV Directive.

The new 200-watt CN200A models of

railway converters are available now and priced at $141.00 each in 500 piece quantities.
