Powermosfets drive automotive design
International Rectifier has launched two automotive DirectFET2 power mosfets optimised with low gate charge for switching applications including switch mode power supplies (SMPS), class D audio systems, high intensity discharge (HID) lighting and other automotive power conversion applications.
Described as IR’s first automotive grade DirectFET devices
tailored to DC-DC applications, the devices boast low gate charge and on-state resistance (RDS(on)) to help minimise switching and conduction losses. Moreover, the low parasitic inductance offered by the DirectFET power package is said to result in high frequency switching performance with reduced waveform ringing, which in turn helps limit EMI and filter size.
The AUIRF7648M2 features a PCB footprint 54 per cent smaller
than a DPak while the AUIRF7669L2 features a PCB footprint 60 per cent smaller than a D2Pak. Package current ratings are 179 and 375A respectively. Spice and saber models are available on request.
www.irf.com Delivering in densely packed environments
Designed for use in large, densely packed cabinets, Fulltech UF18J(C) heavy-duty fans from Aerco feature an aluminium 180 by 180 by 90mm frame and plastic 94VO covered glass fibre impeller. Its high performance in a relatively small frame size make it an ideal replacement for larger fans with similar performance where space is limited.
Capable of airflow up to 216l/s at zero
pressure, with a maximum pressure of 27mm H2O, the UF18J(C) is powered by a thermally
protected capacitor induction motor powered by 100, 115, 200 or 230VAC supply at either 50 or 60Hz.
Operating temperature range is -20 to
70°C, with an operating life of over 40,000 hours at 40°C and an operating noise level of 59dB(A). Fans are supplied with standard terminal connections.

Tough connectors on 48-hour leadtime
Franchised connector assembly specialist, PEI-Genesis, offers a 48-hour assembly service across a range of connectors for harsh- environment applications. In addition to its industrial, military, aerospace and railway connectors, PEI-Genesis offers a family of ATEX-approved connectors, designed for use in oil and gas exploration, petrochemical plants and fuel storage sites.
The line-up of ATEX-approved connectors is spearheaded by
Amphenol’s Amphe-EX series. Theseminiature connectors accept copper, coaxial or fibre-optic contacts and can be specifiedwith RJ45 or USB inserts for applications such as data acquisition, process control, communications systems and embedded computers.
Capable ofwithstanding extreme environments, Amphe-EX
connectors featuremachined aluminiumcomponents platedwith a hard anodic coating for resistance to heat, corrosion and scratching. They utilise a double-lead threaded coupling and are IP68-rated to providemaximumprotection against dust and fluid ingress.
