Y TouchsafeR

but your nurse call alarm system may not

be as safe and efficient as you think.

Most systems display calls from patients on central display panels or overdoor lights but in a large ward environment it can be difficult to accurately identify the call location. Response times can be slow as nurses attend to calls, deal with their patients’ needs and return to the central screen for details of their next alarm call. It is inefficient for your staff, costly for you and, most worryingly, potentially dangerous for your patients.

Mindful of this, Aid Call has developed a radical new wireless nurse call system - the TouchsafeR

range of products.

Working closely with estate departments and nursing staff, Aid Call has gone back to basics to address the challenges facing today’s hospital environment and created the most reliable, efficient and safe wireless system

set to revolutionise efficiency and

safety in nurse call market ou may not realise it

available. The TouchsafeR CP5000 display panel shows ward and bed location as well as attending nurse’s identification with optional floor plans/map locations on its high visability display whilst permanently logging all information safely for audit purposes.

Most importantly, the new TouchsafeR

ATX5000 call points

feature an LCD screen which displays a ‘next call waiting’ message, enabling staff to access their next call from the current patient’s room without having to revisit the central display panel - or carry expensive pocket pagers.

The ‘nurse identification’ feature provides a permanent record of the nurse in attendance allowing you to produce full activity reports. Response times between calls are quicker and less staff time is wasted. And, most importantly, you know there is no risk of a patient being left unattended.

But this isn’t the only way in

which your current system may not be as safe as you think. The vast majority of radio nurse call systems operate on unregulated radio frequencies. This means your nurse call would be competing for the airwaves with car key fobs, remote controls and countless other devices. The Aid Call TouchsafeR

range is the only

wireless alarm system that uses a dedicated alarm channel. Aid Call was also the first wireless system manufacturer to ensure that every touchable element has anti-microbial protection as standard and is the only one that meets the rigorous safety standards demanded of Class 1

F Picsara provides secure capturing, storing

and management of images

ollowing the successful installation and implementation of

the Picsara image management system in the dermatology department of St Peters Hospital, Chertsey in September 2009, the system has fulfilled and exceeded expectations with regards to patient throughput and image data security.

The dermatology department were looking for a means of securely storing photographic images of their patients, a system which would allow them

Sep/Oct 10

to view and report on their diagnosis while at the same time ensuring patient confidentiality.

Putting patients first is the trust’s key value and it was felt that the Picsara system would provide a means of ensuring patient dignity was preserved by having a secure system for storage of images.

Dermatology is run by a small team of consultants, and the IT Services Department felt that this straightforward system could make a difference in terms

of the patient experience as well as assist frontline staff take a more streamlined approach to their work. St Peters is delighted to be the first UK installation and reference site for other NHS trusts considering this solution.

The system is now so well used by dermatology and indeed used regularly for multi- disciplinary team meetings that we are now finding that other clinical departments within the trust are hoping to be able to secure funding to implement further Picsara systems within their own

areas. In addition the system is now being utilised at St Peter’s sister hospital in Ashford, Middlesex for dermatology clinics at that site.

In addition to the use at Ashford, the trust is exploring the possibilities with Vertec / Euromed of providing a further “off site” dermatology clinic, using Picsara outside of the St Peters or Ashford sites to enhance the service that we provide to our patients in this area.
