Introducing the TD-Synergy microbiology module: A

n original microbiology module designed to

cater for the needs of today’s microbiology laboratory.

Technidata have been providing laboratory information systems (LIS) software for over 30 years. The company has gone from strength to strength and is now a leading global supplier for clinical LIS and instrument workstations. There are in excess of 700 sites worldwide covering all disciplines, including microbiology.

Microbiology requests are historically very difficult to manage compared to other disciplines and workflow patterns between laboratories is often very different.

The TD-Synergy microbiology module has been designed by microbiologists for microbiologists to meet the needs of the modern microbiology laboratory. It was designed and built after consultation with customers worldwide and instrumentation companies.

The module has dedicated dictionaries for items such as agars, stain, organisms and antibiotics, from which each laboratory creates their own dictionary of protocols, which standardise and guide scientists through each step of the analytical procedure. At the same time, the system generates customised results screens for each protocol, relevant for each step of the procedure.

Supported by an easy to use rule- based system, the TD-Synergy microbiology module provides a flexible approach to decision making in real time. Automatic actions such as adding stains, agars, extra antibiotics can easily be triggered during order entry or on result acquisition.

Result entry is possible singly, in batch mode or automatically via a connected analyser. Both paperless and worksheet workflow is possible. Validation is easy and safe with the powerful clinical review screen,

which can include customisable alerts, and a full patient history. A complete built in easily retrievable audit trail logs every user action taken on the system, date and time tagged.

Infection control do not get left out either – a powerful data extraction epidemiology facility enables handling of incident reports, monitoring nosocomial infections or resistance patterns.

Email alerts can be sent on single cases or if pre-defined thresholds are exceeded.
