2011 AFS/FEF Student Technology Scholarship Contest


New Scholarships Available


Submissions are open for the 2011 Foundry Education Foun- dation (FEF) and American Foundry Society (AFS) Student Technology Scholarship Contest. The purpose of the competition is to encourage student participation and recognize excellence in student research in the field of metalcasting technology. The projects must represent current or recent work by the student in the area of metalcasting technology or molten metal pro- cessing. This is intended to highlight student and senior proj- ects, graduate research and other work. Posters will be judged for technical merit and quality by a panel of metalcasting ex- perts, based on the criteria below. The first place project will receive an FEF scholarship and an AFS award of merit. Ad- ditional scholarships will also be offered in the 2011 contest. The winning project will be posted at the 115th


Metalcasting


Congress, April 5-8, 2011, in Schaumburg, IL. All participating students will receive complimentary registration to the Metal- casting Congress and a certificate of completion and top proj- ects will be selected for publication in the IJMC. AFS/FEF Student Technology Scholarship Contest is open to North American citizens currently enrolled in metalcasting related programs at FEF accredited and affiliated schools. Students


must be registered with FEF and enrolled in the current and upcoming academic year.


Submission:


All submissions must be in electronic format (Microsoft Pow- erPoint), with a maximum of 6 PowerPoint slides per each submission (plus bibliography). Completed application form and final presentations must be sub- mitted to AFS Technical Services by Feb 1, 2011.
