A Flexible Solution!

There’s a remarkable new product on the market that makes on-the- spot fixes and modifications a doddle. It’s called sugru, and if you’ve never heard of it before that’s probably because it’s an invention that’s only recently been brought to market.

sugru is a unique self-adhesive putty that cures in the air to give a tough, flexible silicone with a rubberised finish. It’s used to make repairs or adaptations to things that are broken or (more creatively) can

somehow be improved through some ingenious modification. Once cured it’s extremely durable, heat/cold and water resistant, and because it stays flexible it’s ideal for repairing things that need to be able to move, such as cables.

sugru has thousands of practical uses, but the ever-resourceful photographic community has been quick to see the potential. Inspired applications include making an SLR easier to grip, repairing frayed cables and giving a tripod some rubbery new feet.

sugru is available in a range of colours. It costs £6 for a small pack or £11 for a large pack.
