Which Platforms Do Organizations Publish on / Intend to Publish on?

When asked which platforms organizations publish on today, not surprisingly, nearly all respondents reported developing digital editions for the Web/online. Second highest was iPad at just 15.5 percent, surprisingly higher than the iPhone, consider- ing the iPad had only been available for just over four months at the time the survey was conducted.

When asked what additional platforms they’d like to be on in the next 12 months, respondents painted a different picture. Only 50 percent plan to be publishing Web/ online editions, while the leader is the iPad at 56.9 percent - a near 4x increase from today. In third place is the iPhone at 47.7 percent, another near 4x increase from today. Android and Windows-based mobile devices also show significant growth, though off smaller bases. Overall, this indicates that mobile platforms will dominate for digital publishing in the future.
