Aninth generation Washington- ian, born in 1923 she was the daughter of Admiral Alexander Somerville Wother- spoon and Margaret Parker Larner,paternal granddaughter of General William Wallace Wotherspoon, U.S. Army Chief of Staff, and maternal granddaughter of John B. Larner,President of Washington Loan and Trust, and Chairman of George Washington University.Skiddy graduated from the Holton Arms School and Connecticut Col- lege.She was an avid tennis player,a political enthusiast, and the author and illustrator of two children's books.

BENETTADOUGLAS PARHAM HILL Benetta Douglas Parham Hill was born in Raleigh North Carolina on August 21, 1924, the second of three children to the late Eliza Height Parham and Robert Ulysses Parham.
Benetta was very close to her older sister Margaret Parham Brooks and her younger brother Robert (Bobby) Parham both deceased. Although she was born in North Carolina she was raised in the District of Columbia and lived and attended schools there in her younger years.She attended James Monroe Elementary School, Dunbar High School (Class of 1942) and received her B.A. Degree from Howard University.She was amember of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,Inc. Her marriages to Arnold Wilson and Richard Hill ended in divorce.Although she had no children of her own, she took maternity leave with her sister Margaret for the birth of Margaret and Buddy’sthree children Darryll, Gene,and Zsara. She affectionately referred to Darryll, Gene and Zsarasimply as her “Sister’sChildren”.
Benetta and her older sister Margaret had aknack for learning foreign languages and Benetta was especially fond of speaking Russ- ian. She eventually retired from the National Security Agency as aRussian Translator with
Aunt Bea Bea loved her pet boxer Jasmine and eating seafood. She was known as Aunt Bea Bea by everyone.Her hobbies included arts and crafts,golf,tennis and bowling.Benetta P. Hill would tell anyone the “P” in her name stands for party! On Tuesday September 14, 2010, Aunt Bea Bea passed away peacefully after aheroic battle with breast cancer.She is survived by her loving family; nephew Darryll Eugene Michael Douglass Brooks,her niece ZsaraEliza Brooks Hamlin, nephew in-law Carlos R. Alifelong Roosevelt Republican who strongly believed in the preservation of forest and open spaces, Mrs. Morey ran for US Congress in the Republican primary in the First Congressional Dis- trict in Washington State in 1984, and then became aRepublican Precinct Committeeman in Seattle. Mrs. Morey was agraduate of the Brearley School; Wellesley College, whereshe was adevoted member of ShakespeareSociety; and Columbia University School of Law,whereshe was editor of the Law Review.Between college and law school, she spent two years as areporter for the Escondido Times- Advocate. She was also aboardmember of the Northern Washington Chinese Shar-Pei Club, and an active member of the American Research Center in Egypt. Aworld traveler,amateur historian, movie buff, and literary connoisseur,Mrs. Morey enjoyed lively discussions, storytelling, horseback riding, and breeding and showing champion dogs—having shown Chinese Shar-Pei Ch. Fourpaws Socrates at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
Mrs. Morey was aloving, devoted mother and grandmother,and aloyal friend to many.She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lee Rowen and Grace McKenzie; children, Melissa Barden Dowling, Scott Morey Barden, and Elizabeth Barden Ackerman; and grandchildren, Katherine Dowling, Maxfield Barden, Emma Kirkpatrick, James Ackerman, and Kepler Ackerman. Her marriage of 28 years to RichardPaul Barden, who survives her,ended in divorce in 1986.
Amemorial service will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Millbrook, New York on Saturday,Septem- ber 25. Contributions may be sent to the Harry L. King Trust for faculty development, Office for Resources, Wellesley College, 106 Central Street, Wellesley,MA02481.

On September 21, 2010 of Takoma Park, MD. Anative New Yorker and alumnus of Columbia College and Columbia Law School. Upon grad- uation, he joined the Peace Corps,where he taught law in Tanzania. He later served as counsel for the Office of Economic Opportunity, and then spent over thirty years in private practice as acriminal defense attorney in the District and Maryland. His wife,Lucy K. Schoenfeld and his sons,William Kirkland Schoenfeld and Michael Blair Schoenfeld, sur- vive him.
