Collyer Bristow bags boutique lawyers
Nine move in at Novak Druce Norton Rose recruits in Hong Kong

London-based Collyer Bristow LLP has recruited Kate Macmillan as a partner, the firm announced in August.
Annsley Ward also makes the move. She is an IP specialist and assistant to Macmillan.
Macmillan and Ward join Collyer Bristow from Gallant Macmillan LLP, a boutique IP and media firm. Macmillan co-founded the firm in 2006 aſter spending a decade at Carter-Ruck as a litigation lawyer.
As part of the dispute resolution team in Collyer Bristow’s London office, Macmillan and Ward will focus on IP, media and fashion law.
Macmillan said: “I’m very proud to have built a successful firm over the last four years, but I feel ready to be part of a larger practice. I see opportunities in developing the synergies between reputation management and IP.”

Novak Druce + Quigg LLP has added nine patent litigation attorneys to its San Francisco and Washington, DC offices.
Robert Kramer, Tomas Dunham, Eric Shih, Jay Guiliano, Gregory Hillyer, Subroto Bose, Michael Woods, Stephanie Wood and Javier Sobrado all join the firm’s patent litigation group.
Kramer joins as a partner and co-chair of the group. Dunham, Shih, Guiliano and Hillyer also join as partners. Bose joins as counsel, and Wood and Woods join as senior associates, with Sobrado joining as an associate.
Prior to moving to Novak Druce, Kramer was a partner at both Morrison & Foerster LLP and Howrey LLP.

Norton Rose LLP has secured Gigi Cheah and Justin Davidson from the Hong Kong office of DLA Piper LLP, the firm announced in July.
Te pair will join as partners and will work in the intellectual property, communications, media and technology team at the firm.
Cheah, a non-contentious intellectual property and technology lawyer, specialises in technology procurement, licensing, outsourcing and life sciences.
Davidson works on contentious and non-contentious matter. He focuses on transactional, exploitation and advisory intellectual property work, as well as intellectual property disputes and prosecution.
David Stannard, the head of legal matter in Asia for the Norton Rose Group, said: “Tey are exactly the kind of dynamic, highly skilled and experienced lawyers we are looking for in this important specialist area.”

Dykema Gossett hires of counsel in Chicago
King & Wood hires senior counsel and partner
King & Wood has hired Wu Yihua and Matthew Seiden, the firm announced in July.
Wu, formerly a patent agent at the Patent & Trademark Law Office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, joins the firm’s Beijing office as a partner. Seiden joins the firm’s New York office as a special advisor. He was a partner at Arnold & Porter LLP before joining the firm.
Wang Ling, managing partner at King & Wood, states: “Tey [both] bring unique skills to our firm in their respective areas and will increase our competitiveness throughout mainland China, Hong Kong and in outbound matters.”

Dykema Gossett PLLC has added Jeffrey A. Pine to its intellectual property department as of counsel, the firm announced in August. He will be based in the Chicago office.
Prior to joining Dykema Gossett, Pine was a founding partner of Valauskas & Pine, an IP boutique firm. He was also a founding partner of Baniak, Pine & Gannon.
Pine practices in technology-related litigation and licensing matters, including patent and copyright disputes. He counsels and provides intellectual property protection for start-up and established Internet-based companies. He has also worked as an engineer at a defence contractor designing and developing automated testing equipment for electronic systems.
