MarbleMountain is perched high above the
waters of the Bras d’Or Lakes and offers splendid views of the many offshore islands. The Marble MountainMuseumandLibrary is located here and at the nearby quarry is a uniquemarble beach. Join the fun at the annual Marble Mountain
Festival and Poker Run fromAugust 6-8th. Enjoy the scenery as the trail continues along
the shore to LimeHill andWest Bay. As you approachDundee,youwill pass a small
marina, nestled in a picturesque cove and then cross a one-lane bridge. Beyond the bridge leads to the Dundee Resort
andGolfClub, one of Cape Breton’s finest 18-hole golf courses.West of the course is the Dundee Provincial Park. The drive continues through St. George’s
Channel, Cape George Harbour, French Cove and into St.Peter’s joining Rte #4.
On Bras d’Or Lakes ScenicDrive,Rte #4 Charming and attractive, the full-service com-
munity of St. Peter’s? is located on a narrow strip of land separating the Atlantic Ocean and the Bras d’Or Lakes. Take note while driving along on Rte #4
through St. Peter’s as you will cross a swing bridge,which turns to allow the boat traffic into the lock system of the canal. The St. Peter’s Canal National Historic Site of
Canada is often busy with ships travelling through the locks andmakes an interesting and enjoyable visit.The site also offers walking trails to the St.Peter’s Lighthouse on the east,andon the west is the NicholasDenysMuseum. The Bras d’Or Lakes Inn provides visitors with
both accommodations and licensed dining from their convenient location next to the canal. Enjoy theirWeekly Ceilidhs onWednesdays
and Thursdays fromJuly 14th-August19th. St.Peter’s is thebirthplaceofWallaceMacAskill,
an internationally recognized photographer.Visit his childhood home which has been converted into theWallaceMacAskillMuseum. Join in the fun at celebrations this summer
in St. Peter’s. The annual Nicolas Deny’s Days are fromAugust 2nd-8th. The MacAskill Regatta takes place late July,
