At the crest of Cape Smokey, the road clings to the mountainside with breathtaking views On to Ingonish Ferry and IngonishHarbour
where in the summer and fall visitors can ride the ski-lift to take in the breathtaking views of the harbour and surrounding highlands. As the trail continues you make the steep
climb to the crest of Cape Smokey. This 365m (1,200 ft)mountain is often capped inwhitemist fromwhich it got its’name. At the Cape Smokey Provincial Park you will
find several picnic areas fromwhich to enjoy the view.With the aid of binoculars, pods of whales have often been seen feeding offshore. The trail nowdescends steeply as it enters the coastal plain atWreck Cove.
The Wreck Cove General Store is a great stop.
You can gas up and enjoy an ice cream,or try one of theirworld famous lobster sandwiches. Rich Gaelic traditions are evident through the
following small communities of French River, SkirDhu,Breton Cove and North Shore,where the Plaster Provincial Park is located. Continue the trail to Indian Brook and drop
