Flu Shot The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot.
Colon Cancer Check Everyone over age 50 should be screened regularly for colon cancer. If you have a family history, get your first colonoscopy 10 years earlier than the age your relative was diagnosed. What tests are right for you and how often you need them depends on your health and family history. Discuss your options with your healthcare provider.
Bone Density Test According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, all women over age 65 should be screened for bone density. How often to repeat the screening will be based on your results. Talk with your healthcare provider about your plan for keeping your bones strong.
Pneumonia Shot The pneumonia shot can help protect you from 88 percent of the pneumococcal bacteria that cause pneumonia. Everyone over age 65 should get it. Because it lasts for 10 years, you may also need a booster shot at 75.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Women with a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm should be screened. It is a free, one-time ultrasound screening, covered by Medicare.
