Outdoor movies for a cause

Something is different about this year’s Comcast Film Festival, celebrating its 14th anniversary. After years of being held close to Bethesda — first on the National Institutes of Health campus, then on the grounds of Strathmore Hall — the festival has moved farther north, to the Universities at Shady Grove. But the public is still treated to great movies on a big screen under the summertime stars. Features this year include contemporary classics from “Jerry Maguire” (screening Monday) to “Up in the Air” (screening Wednesday) to “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” which closes out the eight-day series on Friday. Proceeds from food sales benefit NIH charities. // 8:15 p.m. nightly through Friday. The Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Dr., Rockville. 301-816-6958. www.filmfestnih.org. Free.
