Whitby to distribute Heat Factory, looks forward to OTS
Outdoor distributor Whitby and Co has secured the distribution for Heat Factory, an innovative brand that specialises in warmer products. Heat Factory has been producing hand warmer-type products since 1980 and has been successful both in the US and Europe. The Heat Factory Warmer is a soft, lightweight pouch containing a biodegradeable mixture of iron power, charcoal, salt, sawdust and vermiculite. When exposed to the air, an oxidisation process takes place that generates heat. Unopened Heat Factory warmers have a shelf life of three years.
All of the company’s products are environmentally sound, are non toxic and pose no risk of fire.
Meanwhile, Whitby and Co is once again firmly positioned to show the industry yet another full offering of new and innovative products from many of the leading brands within its portfolio.
Highlights from Leatherman include the Style and Style CS, a new range of keychain-size multi-tools, and Wenger Swiss Army will be showing the new Patagonia and EvoWood collections of pocket knives, combining contemporary styling with cutting-edge performance. Nite Ize will be adding a number of creative and quirky items to its extensive collection, including the Knotbone Bungees, Ziplit, Keylit, Domelit, Keyrack and S-Biner Ahhh. All items will be available for demonstration purposes throughout the show.
Princeton Tec is launching the new Byte, adding yet another headlamp option to its fast growing range. Zippo will preview its new Outdoor Collection, including the Handwarmer and the new Emergency Fire Starters, Cedar wax campfire starter and Flexible Neck Utility lighters.

OutDoor Awards The Platypus Origin hydration pack line has done the business for Cascade Designs at the recent OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, as one of five winners in the Backpacks/Travel Luggage category among a group of 45 submissions. The Platypus Origin hydration pack line was selected for its superior design quality, workmanship, choice of material, functionality and utility.
Each of the five new Platypus Origin Hydration packs features superior gear protection in any weather, with precisely integrated hydration and a refined, contoured fit designed for a variety of day and overnight activities. Cascade was also celebrating an award at the same event for their Therm- a-Rest Alpine 2°C Down Blanket, as one of two winners in the Sleeping Bag Category among a group of 18 submissions, the Alpine 2°C Down Blanket was selected for superior design quality, functionality, and branding value. Powertraveller helps charity mission get moving
Powertraveller, the rather brilliant portable power specialist, is donating kit to a charity mission that hopes to raise thousands of pounds and achieve Guinness World Record status by driving a fire engine named Martha around the world.
Follow That Fire Engine is the first attempt of its kind and will cover 26,000 miles, five continents, take nine months and benefit three charities. The brainchild of Steve Moore, the expedition is entirely self-funded by the 24 Crew Members with 100% of proceeds going to the charities concerned. Powertraveller has donated one of their Award-winning solar panels, the solargorilla and two powergorillas for use with the Expedition’s laptops, plus various accessories. In addition each of the 24 Crew Members has received a powermonkey-eXplorer, Powertraveller’s best-selling portable charger for mobiles, iPods and other gadgets.
