Mountain Hardwear combines with BMC and
sponsors GB team Mountain Hardwear have teamed up with the British Mountaineering Council and are now the official clothing sponsors of the GB lead climbing team.
The team comprises both juniors and seniors and numbers around 40 athletes and 15 coaching staff, who will be wearing Mountain Hardwear T Shirts, competition vests, fleeces and down jackets at all of their competitions and training events worldwide for the next three years. The recent good form of results from team members Shauna Coxsey sixth, Ed Hamer tenth and Randy Roby sixth at the European youth series events at Imst are good indicators that the team are on the right track.

Wolverine transfers Patagonia distribution
Wolverine World Wide is to transfer the distribution of Patagonia Footwear in its European subsidiary territories to Patagonia, Inc. The move will leverage the strength of the Patagonia Inc. organization in Europe to further expand the footwear line.
The transfer will start in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition. While Patagonia Europe will be responsible for the Spring Summer 2011 sell-in season, Wolverine will continue to manage orders and support the business in Europe throughout 2010.
“This is an exciting change and one that we believe will help Patagonia take our footwear distribution and European brand recognition to the next level,” notes Holger Bismann, director of Patagonia Europe, “Our immediate goal is to integrate our impressive footwear line into our strong, established distribution here in Europe.”
Asics agrees to buy Haglöfs
GORE-TEX Experience Tour encouraging the
young via Facebook The GORE-TEX Experience Tour is inviting young people from all over Europe to log on to Facebook and apply for a chance to take part in a variety of outdoor challenges.
Young outdoor enthusiasts from all over Europe are being invited to apply for the chance to make their outdoor dreams come true. Whether it is the first ascent of an untouched summit; filming an outdoor documentary in the Scottish wilderness; a photo expedition to Norway’s Lofoten archipelago or manufacturing a legendary trekking-shoe each unique experience will see young people standing toe to toe with the experts.
The first GORE-TEX Experience Tour projects start in autumn this year. GORE-TEX has mobilised a group of outdoor specialists from different countries who are all ready, willing and able to share their passion, knowledge and experience. By uniting the young outdoor community with their heroes, the project aims to uncover fresh new attitudes and develop innovative ideas that push the boundaries and ultimately enhance the development of outdoor sports.
The professionals include four-time world champion ice climber Ines Papert, extreme climber Robert Jasper, award-winning BBC outdoor documentary filmmaker Cameron McNeish and internationally acclaimed shoemakers Lukas und Lars Meindl. The Experience Tour is a long-term project, so additional experts will be brought into the fold in the near future. The GORE-TEX Experience Tour will be promoted and supported via Facebook (
www.facebook.com/GORETEX.OutdoorProducts) where there is an online application procedure. In addition to voting by fans, a panel of outdoor experts and the respective professionals involved will also evaluate the candidates. Participants will be asked to contribute additional information in real-time by regularly blogging with text and pictures about their experiences.

Haglöfs’ owner Ratos AB (publ) has signed an agreement to sell all of its shares in Haglöfs Holding AB to Asics Corporation of Japan. Subject to clearance from the relevant competition authorities Haglöfs will become a wholly-owned Asics subsidiary and part of the Asics ‘family’. Haglöfs is based in Avesta, Sweden and has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the listed private equity company Ratos AB (publ) since 2001. “We’ve had a very successful partnership with Ratos for nine years and we are enthusiastic about our new partner. Joining Asics enables Haglöfs to become a true worldwide leading outdoor brand,” said Mats Hedblom, CEO of Haglöfs.
The transaction is subject to clearance from the relevant competition authorities and is expected to be finalized during the third quarter of 2010.
Ruff Wear joins Accapi Accapi UK has added the UK and Ireland distribution rights for the
innovative US brand of canine accessories alongside its portfolio of Nexus Energy source products. Taking over the distribution from Rosker, Accapi have created a dedicated outdoor/ country division, which will be supported by the appointment of a new sales manager.
Commenting on the move, Accapi CEO Andrew Geere said: "We are delighted to be adding such an innovative and premium brand to our new division. Ruff Wear will sit alongside developments of the Nexus technology in the equine market and will be shortly joined by another synergetic brand.
