Barker open new

flagship store in London’s Jermyn street

Barker has opened a mew flagship store in London’s Jermyn Street. The

store takes its design influences from the brand’s 130 year history of making the finest quality English shoes to create a contemporary heritage environment. Jermyn Street was created by and named after Henry Jermyn, 1st Earl of

St Albans as part of his development of the St. James area around 1664. It is known as a street where the shops are almost exclusively aimed at the gentleman’s market and is famed for its resident shoemakers and shirt makers. The store is launching Barker’s new Custom Make service which allows a

customer to create his own shoe from exclusive leathers and styles. Each shoe goes through over 200 operations in a process which takes 8

weeks from the careful hand cutting to the final hand polishing. Each pair of shoes will come with an anatomically designed shoe tree made to fit the customer’s shoe and will be presented in a box with shoe care products which will help the customer retain the deep rich patina and suppleness of the leather.

Great Stock service and quality have made the brand reach more than

1200 customers around Europe in just 5 years. Ghetz Footwear distributes the brand internationally and, according to managing director Joao Conrado, they started offering a stock service no more than 3 and half years ago. The brand is now present in over 65 countries worldwide and has the US, China and Australia as new rising markets with new distribution strategies in place. Moema Pimentel, the company's creative director, says that she still does not believe how they have achieved this in such short period of time. “We focus in quality and whilst many brands will try to do anything to cut costs we have always in mind that quality always sells and will always be priority in what we do”. The Spring Summer collection brings sandy colours which came to stay;

they can be viewed at the main European tradeshows such as MODA UK, GDS, MICAM and Italmoda – Paris. Made with padded ankle supports, smooth internal seams, soft sheep

leather linings, tumble grain silky leather uppers, full anatomic footbeds and deep comfort cushioning with classic and refined styling. www.anatomicshoes.com
