No one actually called the final spot on, although by predicting the correct result (but not score) of the last three games, Yates managed to move from England/Italy/France territory to Holland/Uruguay/Germany levels of something rather more than respectability. There can be no arguing that Clark, however,


was, like Spain, a worthy winner. He was three points clear of the field, with all his rivals covered by a spread of just two points. You could have thrown a blanket over them. And, in fact, at this point we will. Well done, Tim.
