Hersh joins ELSPA from Number 10
Trade body hires policy officer Tesco and Sainsbury’s reshuffle teams Ferreira sets up White Room Games financial and strategic
ELSPA The association of software publishers has appointed GEMMA HERSH as its new public affairs and policy officer.
Hersh previously worked in the civil service as a media desk officer at Number 10 and at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. She will promote the industry to the UK Government and assist in the protection of members’ IP against theft and unauthorised content distribution. Director general of ELSPA MIKE RAWLINSON said: “We are very pleased to welcome Gemma on board. She will play a central part in

TESCO SARAH KAYE has moved to the supermarket as its new games buying manager. Kaye previously worked at Activision as the publisher’s grocery channel manager. She joins Tesco’s other buying manager, JOANNA HUNT, category director ROB SALTER and senior games buying manager JOHN STANHOPE among other team members. Another new appointment is LIAN DIONG, who has been promoted to assistant buyer after a role as merchandise planner in Tesco’s electrical division.
SAINSBURY’S A number of changes have been made to
Sainsbury’s board, with MIKE COUPE now the supermarket’s group commercial director. He previously worked as trading director for the firm. DARREN SHAPLAND has been promoted to group development director, while JOHN ROGERS takes Shapland’s previous role as chief financial officer to mark his entry to Sainsbury’s board. HELEN BUCK has also been promoted to convenience director after several senior positions at the supermarket. Chairman DAVID TYLER said: “I am delighted to welcome John Rogers to the board. He brings a wealth of
experience to the team and has done an excellent job in the last two years, in helping to build one of the retail industry's biggest property pipelines.”
WHITE ROOM GAMES LUIZ FERREIRA has been appointed director at White Room Games – a brand new video game distributor focusing on casual titles.
Ferreira comes from publisher-distributor PlayV where he held the position of general manager. Previously he has worked at Centresoft for six years as a sales executive and senior games buyer.
