BETT 2010, Panasonic has entered UK education market for IWBs this month and already has orders from Germany for 2,000 UB-T880 units. Brennan Peyton, general
manager, Panasonic Imaging Group, told Technology in Education: “The UK is the most advanced in Europe and despite the threatened public sector cutbacks, Panasonic has chosen the UK for its global launchpad.” Brennan , in an exclusive
demonstration to Technology in Education in London, explained that Panasonic had been in the projector business for many years and the new IWBs were just part of Panasonic providing a complete solution. Panasonic has launched the
UB-T880 Panaboard series, a new type of interactive whiteboard, which is set to help teachers to deliver more engaging and visual lessons. Up to three people are
able to use the equipment at any one time, encouraging greater pupil involvement during lessons, and with a rigid multi-touch interface, the board will retain long-lasting durability. The Panaboard, when used with
a suitable operating system such as Windows 7, allows teachers even greater control over the images on screen, with pictures being easily manipulated by the touch of a finger or enlarged by stretching and pinching or alternatively using the supplied electronic pen. Further, its powerful software gives users access to an interactive keyboard, up to ten work pages, a zoom facility and text recognition functions. Other key features of the UB-T880 include the ability to connect to the internet via a PC, built-in stereo speakers that enable pupils to watch educational films and documentaries in widescreen and USB ports which can connect the board to other devices such as a camera or a printer. “The UB-T880 opens up a
whole new range of thrilling opportunities for pupils to receive a richer, high quality learning experience. The excitement that the new technology brings to pupils can really add to their
