Designed to improve
hygiene and increase efficien- cy in the catering kitchen is the Tork Performance work- place wiping system from SCA.
Tork Performance dispensers protect the disposable cloths and wipers inside from contamination before use and ensure that a clean wiper is always to hand whenever it is needed. The dispensers also help to limit consumption, which in turn lowers costs and minimises waste.
Tork wipers suitable for use in the catering kitchen include clean-cut Tork Premium 530 Blue cloths which work well both as dishcloths and for cleaning up heavy spills. There is also a white version which can be used as a chef’s towel. Tork Premium 530 cloths are housed in the wall- mounted W4 Tork
Performance dispenser. This has a strong plastic casing to
protect the cloths from contamination before use, while built-in ‘gutters’ prevent any water from entering the unit.
The cloths are presented one at a time to prevent over-consumption and the dispenser fits into a wall- mounted bracket which allows it to be lifted off completely whenever the
walls need to be hosed down.
Also suitable for catering environments are a range of blue centrefold rolls for mopping up spills.
These are housed in the new Tork Performance dispenser for centrefeed rolls which is available in two sizes and has side-opening panels for easy loading. Tork Performance
centrefeed dispensers can be opened either via a push- button or a key depending on the environment, while tight external seals protect the wipers inside from splashes and contamination. All Tork Performance dispensers are made from ABS plastic and all
components are recyclable. They are available in a white/turquoise housing to create a cool, clean image for hygiene-critical food environments as well as a red/smoke colour option.

Portable precision for kitchen cleaning
The new portable SmartDose system from Diversey supports simpler, safer and superior kitchen cleaning with a unique four-in-one Suma concentrate formulation covering dishwashing, floors, glass and general surfaces in a single product. The system’s innovative pack design incorporates a patented dual-setting dispenser that doses product accurately and consistently into spray bottles, buckets, sinks or cleaning machines. SmartDose is ideal for food service, retail and other applica- tions where space is limited, connection to a water supply is impractical or complete portability is required. It enables greater control over product usage for better cleaning consistency with improved sustainability, reduced wastage, predictable cost-in-use and safer handling. Diversey has developed a special formulation of concentrates from its Suma kitchen cleaning range for the four-in-one product. This allows users to replace four different cleaning products with a single container for increased efficiency without compromising on cleaning performance. One SmartDose container of multipurpose cleaner can fill 350 spray bottles or 56 buckets or sinks. A separate SmartDose product is available with Suma D10 sanitiser which can fill 140 spray bottles or 20 buckets.
SmartDose automatically dispenses the correct amount of concentrate for the application and eliminates guess work for complete control over product usage and costs, with consistent cleaning performance. The user selects one of two dosage levels - for spray bottles, buckets, sinks or cleaning machines - by turning the patented head mechanism to one side or the other as indicated by easy-to-read icons. The head is then pulled upwards to prime the integral pump and then pressed back down to deliver a precise and controlled amount of concentrate. It is claimed to be more accurate than other types of dosing bottle and easier to use, more consistent and safer than traditional glug mixing or
pelican pump dispensers. It is also claimed to be more consistent than portion control where solid tabs may not dissolve fully.
The container and head mechanism is completely self-contained to create a closed system. This eliminates the risk of leaks, prevents unauthorised refills and minimises users’ exposure to concentrated product. The ergonomically designed handle ensures the system is easy to lift, carry and use. Robust construction and simple mechanism combine to ensure reliability with virtually no service and maintenance. The system requires no installation which avoids issues related to water regulations.
Like all of Diversey’s dosing and dilution systems, SmartDose promotes sustainability through the use of concentrates. Water is added at the point of use rather than the place of manufacture. This means the amount of product stored and transported in any given size of container covers considerably more cleaning jobs than conventional bulk chemicals or ready-to-use products. Transportation costs and warehouse and on-site storage requirements are reduced. Less packaging is required which results in less waste for disposal. Sustainability is further enhanced by the SmartDose pack design which ensures 100% of product is used to eliminate wastage and the need to rinse the container after use. All materials in the pack are 100% recyclable. SmartDose is ideal for a wide range of cleaning applications but is especially useful when automated dosing and dilution systems are inappropriate such as when a local water supply is unavailable. It is also an excellent choice when users prefer to carry products to the point of use rather than centralise their operations, for example to eliminate long walks to refresh or replenish buckets and bottles.
