AIR WATCH 4 MAY: BRISBANE
Darrin Nathan Mills, 40, allegedly assaulted Qantas staff after being kicked off a domestic flight for ignoring a seatbelt sign. Mills became intoxicated and aggressive during the flight from Darwin to Cairns, via Brisbane.
6 MAY: INDIANAPOLIS Laura Huser, 51, was taken off a flight by three officers as she was drunk and kept interrupting pre-flight safety instructions on her Southwest flight set to depart for Denver.
10 MAY: QANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN A passenger was restrained by crew on an Ariana Afghan Airlines flight en route from Kabul to Qandahar. He allegedly produced a knife and attempted to kick open an aircraft window, breaking the inner layer of the window in the struggle. The Afghan male was arrested by security forces when the aircraft landed in Qandahar.
14 MAY: NEW YORK Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who plays Henry VIII in The Tudors, was denied boarding a 7am flight to Los Angeles as he was deemed to be too drunk to fly. He had previously been involved in incidents in Dublin and Paris airports.
23 MAY: LONDON Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb, 60, became extremely abusive to staff at Heathrow when asked to submit to extra security checks before he boarded a flight to Los Angeles. He left the airport and opted to fly on a different day.
7 MAY: EXMOUTH, AUSTRALIA A Royal Australian Air Force airman was fined AU$2,000 for acts of vandalism at Learmonth Airport near Exmouth. He smashed windows and damaged office equipment on Anzac Day.
18 MAY: NEWARK Leroy Ray, a TSA screener, appeared in court charged with the theft of $495 from a passenger’s bag.
10 MAY: KARACHI Faiz Mohammad, 30, was arrested as he tried to board a Thai International Airlines flight to Muscat with electrical wiring, two batteries and a switch in his shoes.
JUDGEMENTS & ARRESTS
14 APRIL: AMSTERDAM Thomas Salme, employed as a B737 captain by Corendon Airlines, was banned from flying for 12 months by a court and fined $2700 for not having a valid pilot’s licence. He had flown more than 10,000 hours using a false Airline Transport Pilot’s certificate.
22 APRIL: ENNIS, EIRE Jorge Flores, 44, was sent to prison for 27 months by a court in Ennis, after he threatened to blow up an ArkeFly flight operating between Amsterdam and Aruba in January. Flores had been asked to pay €3.50 for a small bottle of wine. Flores had 80 previous convictions, with a mixture of drug, assault and public-order offences.
21 MAY: HONOLULU A Tongan national was drunk and disorderly on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Hilo to Honolulu.
21 MAY: NEWARK Ramesh Advani, 63, was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a sleeping female passenger on a Continental Airlines flight from Hong Kong. It is alleged that passengers behind the sleeping woman kicked her seat to wake her up when they saw what Advani was doing.

28 APRIL: PAISLEY, SCOTLAND Brenda Smith, 46, was fined £150, payable at £3 per week, for her drunken behaviour on a Flybe flight from Cardiff to Glasgow last September. She became abusive towards cabin crew, but 20 of her fellow passengers were off-duty police officers, so she was easily restrained.
3 MAY: NEW YORK Faisal Shahzad, 30, was arrested on board an Emirates aircraft as it prepared to depart New York Kennedy for Dubai. Shahzad is allegedly behind the attempted Times Square bombing. He was brought to court on five counts, including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to kill and maim citizens.

12 MAY: MELBOURNE A man was arrested after he ran onto the tarmac at Melbourne Airport. Police say the man stole a car at a fast food drive-through, drove to the airport, climbed the perimeter fence and ran onto the tarmac, where he was detained by security officers.
